Faraz Arif Ansari

Faraz Arif Ansari is an internationally acclaimed filmmaker. Their first film, Sisak—India’s first silent LGBTQ love story—set a milestone for Indian cinema as the first Indian film to win 59 international awards, a remarkable achievement for a silent, queer film. Faraz’s diverse portfolio includes directing the Netflix series The Big Day and the VICE series Vive Le Voyage.

Their short feature film, Sheer Qorma, starring Shabana Azmi, Divya Dutta, and Swara Bhasker, was screened at over 300 film festivals and won 96 international awards, qualifying for both the BAFTA and Oscars in 2021. Beyond their filmmaking success, Faraz is deeply committed to community outreach. They conduct cinema and theatre sessions for underprivileged children and offer free acting workshops for transgender and queer communities, alongside charitable initiatives such as Gift A Meal.

Faraz recently completed filming their first feature film, Bun Tikki, featuring a stellar cast that includes Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman, and Abhay Deol, and produced by Indian fashion mogul Manish Malhotra. Bun Tikki is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated debut films and is slated for a global release in early 2025.
