Minakshi Sanyal Malobika

Minakshi Sanyal, better known as Malobika is a queer feminist activist, engaged in the LBTQI+ Rights movement in India for the last 25 years. She is Co-founder of Sappho for Equality, Kolkata.  She served as Managing Trustee, Sappho for Equality till 2020 and handed over the baton to the next generation.

Her life’s journey has depended on nothing but her self-reliance. Maybe reaching the wrong side of 50 has made it difficult for her to divide her attention equally between her profession and her passion. That’s why she took voluntary retirement at 53 from a senior manager, CSR position at the Steel Authority of India and devoted herself completely to the feminist movement and the movement for the rights of marginalized sexualities. She loves interacting with people across different socioeconomic layers and age groups and getting involved in different movements. She’s a foodie to the core and loves traveling when she can manage the time. Her jointly edited book “Monologue: Dui Banglar Lesbian Kathan” in both bangla and english language in 2021.
