Poongodi Mathiarasu is an independent artist and traveling teacher with a graduate degree in Journalism and a postgraduate degree in Folklore and Cultural Studies. For the past five years, he has focused on documenting the lives of trans folk artists in rural Tamil Nadu, working with folk artists, children, and the queer community. His expertise spans traditional folk dances, puppetry, and street theatre. He is also currently working as an artist with the theatre group Fluid Space. A staunch advocate of “art for all,” Poongodi strives to advance gender equality and social justice through his work.
